The Australian Golf Industry

Environmental Policy

The Australian Golf Industry plays a significant role in the community with an estimated 34 million rounds of golf played annually in both rural and metropolitan areas. The industry is represented by a number of bodies which oversee the development of the game from junior level through to elite competition, and the presentation and management of the playing surface and surrounding area.

Across the entire industry environmental responsibility is a core value and we continually strive to improve and enhance our reputation as effective environmental managers.

To this end, we commit to environmental excellence and to:

  • Develop and maintain GEMS - The AGCSA’s Golf Environmental Management Strategy that distinguishes the Australian Golfing Industry as the world leader in environmental management;

  • Integrating environmental factors into our business decisions wherever we operate;

  • Strive to meet and, where appropriate, exceed the requirements of all relevant legislation, regulations and other requirements to which the industry subscribes;

  • Encourage commitment to the environment through training and awareness programs;

  • Constantly strive to achieve continual improvement and the prevention of pollution in our environmental performance;

  • Promote water management strategies to all members;

  • Continue to support and further enhance integrated pest management;

  • Set environmental objectives and targets and assess our achievements;

  • Encourage a similar environmental commitment from our material suppliers and contractors;

  • Annually review this Policy and communicate it to all members of the Australian Golf Industry and the public;

We, the management team of The Australian Golf Industry, willingly adhere to the principles of this Policy indicating our firm commitment to its objectives.
