ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INITIATIVE MARCH 2007 WORKSHOP
The AGCSA March 2007 workshop, in partnership with Environmental Business Solutions, will outline that for effective environmental management to become a reality, golf courses need to have in place an up to date Environmental Management System (EMS), a set of formalised principles and procedures to better manage its interaction with the environment.
This workshop will expand on the requirement of golf courses to have an EMS in place and will demonstrate the environmental software program, e-parŪ.
The Workshops are organised into Morning and Afternoon sessions.
The Morning session is designed for those Clubs that;
* The cost of this workshop is included in the purchase of e-parŪ and is free for all clubs that currently have e-parŪ
The Afternoon Session is designed for those Clubs that;
* The cost of this workshop is included in the purchase of e-parŪ and is free for all clubs that currently have e-parŪ
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
SHOULD YOUR CLUB ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP? · Are you required to comply with environmental laws and regulations with heavy penalties and few defences? · Are you looking for ways to improve your environmental performance and save money? · Does a lack of time or resources prevent your club from managing its environmental obligations effectively? · Would you like to be confident your staff are able to react quickly and efficiently should an environmental incident occur? · Would you prefer your club to be recognised as an environmental performer rather than an environmental laggard?
If you answered YES to one or more of the above questions, then you should register for this workshop.
Every time a chemical is used or fertiliser applied, when greens are mown or re-shaped, when turf areas are irrigated, indeed when any decision is made concerning the construction or maintenance on a golf course, there is a potential risk to the environment.
The workshop will outline; · Why an EMS is so important · What components should be part of any EMS · What work is involved with maintaining an EMS · e-parŪ EMS
E-ParŪ e-parŪ provides a framework for environmental responsibility, accountability and defensibility to ensure that your golf facility complies with all relevant environmental legislation and moves progressively toward best practice in environmental management.
The software guides the user through a round of golf. Each hole of the course represents an important environmental goal and as you play a shot e-parŪ provides you with the how-to information required to achieve that goal. It provides templates, sample documents, checklists and completed examples. Upon completion of the 18th hole you will have developed your clubs Environmental Management System.
